About

Glowworm Events was formed in 2020 in our own small backyard in Park Slope, Brooklyn. With many of our favorite theaters closed and summer screening series canceled due to the pandemic, we created our own socially distanced cinema. After much experimentation, we perfected a mobile setup of screens, projectors, and audio equipment ready to transform any outdoor space.

Glowworm Events was founded in 2020 when watching movies was one of the things that brought joy during otherwise dark time. I was pregnant with my first child, living in Brooklyn, and in my small backyard was one of the few places I felt safe from COVID.

A couple years later, I’m now based in Essex County, New Jersey and continuing to bring outdoor movies to more backyards and outdoor spaces.

I have worked for 10+ years as an educator and administrator for organizations including the NY City Parks Foundation, Made in NY Media Center, and Children’s Museum of the Arts. I have a BA from Eugene Lang College and an MA in Museum Studies from San Francisco Arts Institute.
